Last week of May

Tuesday a.m. they re-dug a space out front of each business to put the permanent water lines in

they are also putting in new fire hydrants - our block's is now across the street on Travel Lodge's corner

we're glad to see this fire hydrant go - it has been an obstacle for pedestrians using the City's stairwell (doorway at top of photo)

after they removed the rest of parts they've filled in the hole with concrete

they've run into a lot of big rock... this is their big "jack hammer"

we could barely hear customers over the phone when this was going - if this gave us a headache I can only image how the operator felt

we've been told that these pipes contain electric and communications cables (we also heard something about cameras going in too)

 

in the meantime - the real excitement has been down the street...
