First week of June

beautiful day in the neighborhood...

blacktop eater upper in front of Edge Tattoo

they had to "jackhammer" away at tons of rock in front of Hunan Garden, I think it was pretty much non-stop for 2 days (gave us all headaches and we're kiddy-corner from them, can't imagine what it was like inside the restaurant!).... dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dat - aaaaaaaaa!

(storm drain??) parts on the move - maybe for Pewabic intersection???

this is what Pewabic intersection looked like beginning of this week

and yes, they have to dig more holes again, this time it's for the big plumbing parts (last time was for the water mains)

digging old stuff out at the entry from Shelden onto the upper parking deck...

for whatever reason, when they were doing this work is sounded and felt like they were ripping the basement out from under us! (very unnerving, made it very hard to concentrate on anything -- word to those down the street from us, plan to do your brain work at night when it's quiet, save the daytime for picture taking!)

I put my money on the guy with the bigger shovel

we've been amazed an how un-hindered pedestrian traffic has been -- we've seen people in business suits and even high-heels going down slopes and thru loose dirt!

(keep in mind that you can start shopping way down at Swift's True Value, check out new kayaks, grab lunch, drop your computer off for repairs, get that print nicely framed, price out new office furniture, pick up fancy new dishes and make your way down to our shop or the salon next door and not step in dirt once - thanks to the upper parking deck and back entryways for the many businesses, shops, and food stops that are en route)

from how it was told to me, World Foods International Grocery and Deli (formerly Haug's Jewelry location) had their front basement wall crumble, which is why you see a nice new wall going in

the weather has been really dry this spring, which probably makes it hard for the dirt to get panked down well (and makes it nasty to look down the street if a gust of wind kicks up - especially if you wear contacts!)

oooh! I see pink sticks! notice how they curve out a little in front of our shop - that's where the light pole will go... pink sticks are exciting because that means curbs are being planned out!!!

okay, this thing is on our good list and bad list both....we love that we are getting smoothed out dirt (because we know what follows) but we hate how our building vibrates when he goes by (honestly, you can watch the ripples in your coffee cup, hear the change in the cash drawer jangle, feel your fillings loosen, etc.)

surveyors!!! we like seeing surveyors!!

we will definitely have curbs soon - maybe even... s i d e w a l k -- wow

speaking of sidewalks - go to the next page to see what's been happening down the street...
