Old Macs never die - they just get reassigned

About 1/2 of the work done on our current website was done with this little iBook running OS9 (I only switched to my office G4 as most of the images were there, saved me transfer time) - website started while I was with the guys who installed Houghton H.S. signs (legally someone had to be on the ground if just one of the guys were on-site, so I expected to be bored and figured I'd put that time to use!)

If someone wants to use their old free copy of PageMill v3 to make a site, and thinks what was done with this site is suitable and "good enough" for their site, you can email me with any ?'s - and yes, it was VERY EASY - big trick for me was figuring out how to bury links behind images... basically you have to double click on the image and then you can draw the parameters of the link (and no, the manual does not say to double-click, I found this out by accident while cursing in pig-latin at the program and twitching on the trackball while doing so)

After double-clicking onto the photo, and the photo is highlighted (note gray dotted border around image) I was then given a different set of tools at the top of the screen. For the link attached to just the laptop part of the photo, I used the tool highlighted in green... and made a path with that around my iBook... when done I simply clicked on the "Link..." in the bottom right corner of the screen and put the URL info in there.

You can do multiple links with just one image too!
The navigation icons for our site are actually one Jpeg with links embedded (PageMill's Inspector shows it as a Map and not an Image once these links are created)

Incase you wonder, I'm not just being nice offering these tips to any other fool using PageMill v3 - I honestly don't want to loose this information so if I have it on my site - I should be able to find it to use myself again!! (or at least one would hope)

Wondering how this compares to our super-cheesie old website? CLICK HERE to see it (we threw it together in 2 days, including film-photo processing time, trying to figure out what to say, and how to use Netscape Communicator's editor to make it - all reasons it's far cheesier then this new website!!)

PS: if you want a good solid computer, don't have the need for the latest-greatest software, and don't want to spend much money - I recommend an old Mac!!
